Aloha mai kakou. On December 10, 2014, Network808 held the last networking event for the year at Bubba Gump Shrimp Company. Mahalo goes out to Jiye Ramos of Bubba Gump Shrimp Company for hosting our event and her excellent staff for their hospitality and service.
We know that coming to a networking event to meet many new business professionals can be daunting for some. So at the beginning of each event, we provide you with a selected couple of attendees for you to meet. It’s a wonderful icebreaker and moves everyone around the room in search of their picks for the day.
Each participant is encouraged to present a 45 second introduction of your business. The purpose of your networking introduction is not to give a full low down of your business, its history, your range of services and all the reasons why someone should buy from you. Neither is it to just say something and get it over and done with. The point of introducing yourself at a networking meeting is to generate conversations, so that you can start to build relationships, both at the meeting and following up afterwards.
Building on the excitement of meeting new business friends and introducing your company to an audience, we continue to build your network by providing another means to connect and meet those in the event. We understand that there may not be an opportunity for you to connect with each person at the event, so we’ve provided a station for you to leave your business cards and brochures for others to gather and follow-up with you after the networking event.
Here’s what some of the active participants said about Network808 events:
I wanted to first thank you for putting on the Network808 networking event last Wednesday. It looks like a great organization that really cares about the community of island professionals. – Brendan Korman, Senior at the TIM school for UH Manoa
Thank you for another great event. They seem to get better each one I attend. I have been very impressed with the communications on Linkedin and want to do more networking to meet local people. I have also found networking at your events to be more productive than other groups I have attended in the past. – Jan Barosh, Coaching Spa
Thank you for providing a great platform for meeting new people and learning about new businesses. The most valueable takeaway was Having everyone introduce themselves and say what they are looking for. Made it easy to decide who I wanted to reach out to continue to build a relationship with. – Brandi Peralta, Paradise Bay Resort
I did feel that there was value and that your networking opportunities are unique and worthwhile. I thought that the way people help each other out to in seeking what we were there for was great. I think it gives a very direct sense of camaraderie and I thought that was great. – Tyler Hiranaka, Recruitment Coordinator of New York Life Insurance Company, President, Junior Chamber of Commerce and the Asian American Jaycees
We are always looking to meet fellow business owners and enjoyed all of their company. I like the way it is casual, then a little formal and then back to casual. – Janine Law, David Law Custom Cabinetry
